A 12-year old child was hit and killed by a pick up truck in Lanier County.
Troopers say Christian West of Polk County, Florida was crossing Highway 135 three miles south of Lakeland Saturday night a little after 9:30.
Troopers say he ran into the path of Chevy truck driven by Terry Casteen.
West was taken to the hospital where he died.
Troopers are still investigating but say charges aren't likely.
