A Valdosta man is on trial for the murder of his girlfriend.

Jurors were selected Monday for Richard Morrison's trial.

Prosecutors say he murdered 45-year old Tammy Smith then dumped her body on Cypress Street in May 2009.

Morrison and Smith had been in a relationship for 12 years.

She was a mother of seven.
