Thomasville native and former UGA golfer Harris English made history on Sunday becoming only the 3rd amateur to notch a win on the Nationwide Tour. English closed with a one-under 70 to win the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational by one stroke. He finished at 14-under-par 270.
English went to the 18th hole down 2 stokes to John Peterson. Peterson bogeyed the whole leaving the door open for English who connected on a 6 foot birdie for the win. It was his first Nationwide win. He shot a 1 under 70 final round and 14 under for the tournament.
Albany's Josh Broadaway began the day tied for 13th but thanks to 7 birdies on Sunday Broadaway finished the tournament at 12 under, good for in 4th place.
English said "I was nervous, I'll be honest. I really thought John was going to make his putt. I thought I had to make that to tie. I got a good read of James, it was a pretty straight putt. I just picked a spot at the back of the cup and rolled it."
