With the economy still struggling, many parents are finding it hard to pay for the cost of school supplies. Today, one group tried to help them out a little.

Team Action teamed up with Albany Recreation and Parks and the Big Rich Foundation to throw a back to school event at the Carver Community Center.

The group gave away 200 backpacks and lunches. One of the people involved with the event was Richard Gordon of the Oakland Raiders. With NFL players possibly going back to work soon, Gordon could be getting ready for training camp, but he felt the need to help out.

He told us why: "it's the kids. You've got kids all around the community that need help and school's about to come back around so it's a big thing."

Team Action was founded in Miami in 2007, but some of the founding members have ties to Albany. They plan a turkey giveaway in November
