A big boost for an annual downtown Albany event.

Albany's Rock, Roll, and Run is named one of the Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Events for March 2012.

The event includes the Mardi Gras Music Festival, Albany Marathon and half marathon, the SB & T Bike Race and the Flint RiverQuarium Turtle Race.

The event will now receive over 1,600 advertisements in newspapers, magazines, and commercials, which will in turn bring additional revenue to the city.

"Going to put our name out there, all over the U.S. And Canada, they even expand into Canada. More people are going to hear about what we've got going on in Albany that wouldn't normally hear about it. Hopefully it'll bring them to town," Lisa Riddle, Albany CVB Director.

Those advertisements would otherwise be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This year's downtown festival is the first weekend in March.
