Downtown Albany businesses continue to be targeted by criminals.  At least three were broken into Tuesday.

Just before 7 AM, Police spotted a broken front window at Diva's Closet in the 300 block

of West Broad Avenue.

Inside the building the thief kicked open an adjoining door into the African Attire Store and More. Coins and some clothes were taken.

Later in the morning owners found the International Food Mart at 500 South Jefferson was broken into through the front door.

Cigarettes, coins, and groceries were stolen. Store employees worry that customers will be scared by the crimes.

"It's devastating. Because when you've got a new store like this, you don't need anything to knock against the community. But the people they worry about stuff like that. If they don't think it's safe to shop in the neighborhood, where can they go," said International Food Mart employee Edwin Reaves.

Albany Police are investigating the burglaries, but have made no arrests.
