Albany State University men's basketball program hosted its 12th annual youth camp this week at the HPER Gym. Boys and girls from all over the state were offered instructions not only on the basics and fundamentals of the game but drug awareness as well.
Albany State head coach Chris Cameron also stressed the importance of education to the kids. Several Ram basketball players also sacrificed their time to mentor with the children and offer advice to those looking to pursue a future in the sport.
ASU point guard Steven Francis said "Going to these camps and stuff I looked up to everybody so I try to be a good mentor for these kids when they come up here and work out with us."
Dutchtown High senior Freddy Thomas said "There's good coaching, a lot of tips from the players. They really helped on the stuff that I needed to work on and learned to be a better team player."
