A 74-year old Irwin County man missing since Sunday night was found dead Monday afternoon.

Herman Carr apparently got lost in the woods while he was fishing and died.

Helicopters, men on Horseback and hundreds of volunteers joined the search yesterday and today in hopes of finding Carr safe. But those hopes were dashed this afternoon when a helicopter pilot spotted Carr dead in a nearby creek bed. Crime scene technicians were called in late today to investigate the cause of death. Family members say Carr had Dementia and heart trouble.

We spoke to his son today, who told us how much his father loved fishing but he says due to his health problems he hasn't been out fishing as much as he used to.

"I just want to go hug everybody because its really nice to have all the help," said his son Thomas Carr.

Authorities say it appears Carr died of natural causes however his body will be sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy. About a dozen law enforcement agencies participated in the search.
