Albany man hospitalized after South McKinley shooting

Rechelle Battle heard from inside her South McKinley apartment what she said sounded like a firecracker but when she and her sister Annie Battle looked out the front door, they saw a man limping and bleeding.

Annie says, "I saw the man hopping, I don't know his name, but he was hopping from around my sister's house".

The victim, LeeCroy Walker, was arguing with another man at this apartment when the gunman pulled out a gun and shot him in the leg.

Rechelle says, "Then he put his leg down and blood was streaming out of his leg".

Paramedics rushed him to Phoebe Putney hospital with parts of his clothing and blood left behind at the scene.

Police have charged Yapphet Calhoun with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a crime. He's in the Dougherty County Jail.

Walker is hospitalized at Phoebe Putney with non-life threatening injures.
