VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Bond was set Friday for a former Valdosta youth pastor charged with having sex with an underaged girl.

29-year old James Kubicek could walk out of the Lowndes County Jail Friday night. He was arrested at Valdosta First Baptist Church June 27th after returning from a mission trip.

Police say he and a 15 year old girl in his youth group had a consensual sexual relationship for about a year and a half.

"For the life of I me I cannot understand why an adult would want to have sex with a child," said Lowndes Co. Sheriff Chris Prine. "This young lady was in her teens and it had been going on for quite a while."

James Kubicek's bond is $200,000 and we're told that bond is in the works of being posted right now.

First Baptist church fired Kubicek when he was arrested.
