
AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Georgia Southwestern is coming off their best season since joining the Division II ranks will face a tough challenge in their bid to return to the Peach Belt and NCAA DII tournaments next year.
The Peach Belt western division champs will open the 2011-12 season at home on November 15th against Trinity Baptist.
The Canes also have non-conference home games against Fort Valley State and West Florida in November.
Mike Leeder's team will return for a third straight year to the Bearcat Holiday Classic in Greenwood, South Carolina in late December.
The Peach Belt Conference tournament will be in Columbus next season and the west division champion Canes play seven of their final ten games at the Storm Dome.
GSW will return Peach Belt player of the year Phillip Brown and freshman of the year Colin Slotter.
The duo helped lead the Canes to their first ever NCAA division two tournament berth.
