ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Panthers SIFL championship has opened the door for several players in the Arena Football League.
Panthers defensive back Demetrie McCray is heading to Atlanta for a tryout with the Georgia Force on Thursday.
The Force aren't the only team interested in McCray.
The Tulsa Talons have offered the former Albany State Ram a contract.
Demetrie McCray was among the SIFL leaders in interceptions this season.
He says he is looking forward to another opportunity to play in the AFL after the Alabama Hammers released him last year.
Demetrie McCray said. "That's really what you want to do as a player you always want to move up and play at a higher level of ball. I'm taking this opportunity and I'm going to run with it so hopefully it pays off for me. I still love the city of Albany considering what we did this past season and coming back with a group of guys. We'll just see how that goes."
Demetrie McCray was named to the SIFL second team this season.
