We're almost two weeks into the new fiscal year, and Lanier County still doesn't have a budget.

Commissioners postponed their latest scheduled meeting to approve the budget to July 21st at 6:00 pm.

They say the advertisement for today's meeting did not specifically say they'd be adopting the budget, so their attorney Tim Tanner recommended it be rescheduled.

Commissioners cut around $500,000 from the initial budget proposal because of lower tax collections. They've been battling with the sheriff over his budget.

He asked for more than one million. Commissioners plan to give him $633,000.
