Valdosta city leaders approve a watered down version of their travel expense policy that was proposed to make the spending of tax money more transparent.
Council members would not be required to post their expenses on the city's website but would have that option.
Also the mayor pro-tem and councilman at large would have to approve the mayor's expenses if he takes along anyone he considers essential to the success of the trip.
Traveling for other organizations and boards on which the mayor and council members serve would be filed with that organization not the city of Valdosta.
