Eagles impress at 7 on 7 camp

Posted: Updated:

With the 4th of July now in the rear view mirror the bright lights of high school football are on the horizon and 7 on 7 passing camps are always a good sign of things to come.  Sherwood Christian hooked up with Southland for a little GISA scrimmage. The Eagles are looking to turn a new page under head coach Otis Covington and build on a 6-5 record last year.

Coach Covington says his team still has a lot of work to do and will need as much time as possible on the field but so far he likes what he sees.

Covington said "So far I'm happy with what I've seen. Guys are working hard. We've made a few mistakes but the energy is there, the focus is there. We want to keep getting better. We have a young group so we're looking for improvement week to week."

Derek Allen said "We just need to work on our communication, hard work and actually knowing the plays and knowing where to be and when to be there."
