A concerned citizen is stepping up to help the children who have been devastated by the tornado in Oklahoma.More >>
Americus wants to become a more attractive college town. The city is working with Georgia Southwestern and South Georgia Tech to develop more activities students.
Ideas include: music and dancing at the farmer's market, more internships for students in Americus, and volunteer opportunities to help keep the city clean.
The city is also working on a plan to develop Tripp Street leading to GSW to provide more businesses and housing aimed at students.
The mayor says the city has about $1million from the Department of Transportation to work on the Tripp Street Corridor. Construction should start next year.
