A Dougherty County farmer says he is battling the drought and copper thieves as he grows his cotton crop.

Laney Wooten was having this irrigation pivot repaired today after someone stripped 400 feet of copper wire sometime during the holiday weekend.

Wooten says it will cost about $1800 to repair the irrigation system which needs to be running now.

"It's ongoing. They just find a pivot they think they can get to and there are some in other counties they have hit numerous times. Just back to back." What are you going to do? "What can you do. Just watch them", said Wooten.

If you have any information about this copper theft, call Dougherty County Police at 430-6600.
