VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police and the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office want to help students get ready to go back to school.

They'll hold a back to school fair August 2nd at Saunders Park.

They'll provide parents with information on truancy, child abuse awareness and prevention, counseling, and after school options.

"Myself and Sgt. Jim Griffin with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office wanted to bring a proactive approach to our families and say we're not going to provide you with information after something has happened, we want to let you know what's available to you at any time," said Valdosta Police Det. Sabrina Smith.

Detective Smith also sings.

She and others will provide entertainment.

School clubs can also sign up and sell items to raise money for their groups and community agencies are also invited. Fore more information, contact Deputy Sergeant Jim Griffin at (229) 671-3125 or Det. Sabrina Smith at (229) 293-3111.
