NAACP hopes to honor young drowning victim

A week after a young Terrell County boy drowned, community activists announced a plan to memorialize him by helping other kids.

9 year-old Jacob Peters drowned June 23. He was playing with his siblings around a pond near his home last Thursday when he fell in.

NAACP leaders want to build a swimming pool in Jacob's honor.

There is no public pool in Terrell County. They hope you'll donate to the Jacob Peters Memorial Fund at the Bank of Terrell or Georgia Bank of Dawson. They hope to get local government support.

Jacob's funeral will be Saturday at one o'clock at Dawson United Methodist Church.
