The main blood donor center in our area is in danger of closing because of a drop off in donations.
Donations are always low this time of year, but there worse than usual right now at the American Red Cross Donor Center on Dawson Road in Albany.
The Red Cross evaluates blood centers this time of year, and ones that don't make the cut are shut down.
"Right now we're in critical shortage of O blood. We need O negatives and O positives to come in. If not, there may be a possibility, in the southern region that 14 centers will be closed and we're one of the centers," said American Red Cross Nurse Rena Thomas.
Anybody can receive the O blood type, which is why it's so badly needed.
