In a change of command ceremony Wednesday morning, Colonel Terence W. Reid transferred command to Colonel Stephen Medeiros.
Reid was named commander in July of 2009, and according to Major General Kessler, his involvement with the employees and community will be missed.
The Marines who are chosen as commander serve a two year term.
During the service, both colonels pledged their support to the war fighter center and the people of Albany.
"We need to continue our production with right resources at the right time with the right output for the war fighter," Medeiros said.
"Being commander here was a special opportunity. It's been a great ride, and I couldn't ask for any better place to do that but here in Albany, Georgia," said Reid.
Colonel Reid is taking a job as a joint liaison for U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
Colonel Medeiros two year term at the maintenance center starts today. And Major General Kessler will also be leaving soon for Washington.
