THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Four people in Thomasville could be fined up to a thousand dollars each for stealing newspapers. Police and newspaper carriers set up surveillance on newspaper boxes because of continued reports of theft.

Police won't tell us where the people were caught because some areas are still under surveillance. Investigators say Toni Canady and her husband Vasco were caught on camera paying taking several papers after paying for just one. "The reason for this activity is the mere fact that this is a theft, it is larceny, and this is the way these newspaper carriers make their living and they're losing a lot of money," said Lt. Eric Hampton.

Police also caught 39-year old William McAllister and 37-year old Kimberly Little taking multiple papers. They're all charged with theft by taking.
