Thousands of Bees swarm Flint and Madison Avenue

Thousands of bees swarming in downtown Albany have been caught by a beekeeper.

At least 10,000 to 15,000 bees swarmed the corner of Flint and Madison around seven o'clock this morning.

Fortunately, no one was stung by the bees and it only took minutes to remove the swarm. A Lee County Firefighter, who is also a beekeeper, and Public works used a generator to vacuum up the bees.

If you see a swarm of Bees call your local EMA Director. "Knowing what's in your yard will keep you safe. The Africanized bee is different than the honey bee. Africanized Bee's will start a colony anywhere," said Asset. Lee County Fire Chief Paul Branch.

At this time they don't know if these bees are Africanized, but they are being sent to the University of Florida for testing.
