An Albany hospice gets a donation from a marathon race.

The Albany Marathon Board of Directors donated $20,000 to the Willson Hospice House from the race proceeds.

The Snickers Marathon Energy bar marathon will now be called the Albany Marathon.

Almost 1,800 runners participated in this year's race, that's way up from 491 runners the race had in its first year.

Albany Area Chamber CEO says the marathon not only helps the hospice, but Albany's economy as well.

"We fill every hotel room in Albany and general surrounding areas. Any hotel room that you can possibly get to by a 30 minute drive is full for the marathon weekend. You're talking thousands of rooms. That economic impact is something that stays with us throughout one year."

The 2012 race is set for March third, the first Saturday in March.
