Population Growth in Northwest Albany over the last decade means changes in the District lines for Dougherty County Commissioners and School Board Members.

A map showing the proposed new districts is expected to be available soon. We will have  it posted at walb.com as soon as it is available.

The first public hearing is 6pm June 27th at the Police station on Dawson road.  On June 30th they'll have two hearings, at noon in the East Albany Police station. And at 6pm at Monroe High School.

Law requires the local government to adjust the districts to put the same number of voters in each district. Today's group made minor changes to the proposed plan.

"We had a few tweaks here and there. Now we're taking it to the public for their input," said Chairman of the Redistricting Committee James C. Bush.
