Doerun burglars work quickly

Two masked men broke into the Quik Mart Petro convenience store in Doerun about 4:00AM Monday, and stole $5,000, but they were caught on tape.

The thieves threw a concrete block through the glass front door. They went straight to a small safe behind the counter and took it and a money box. Investigators say it's similar to other recent convenience store burglaries in Moultrie, Pavo, and Berlin.

"The estimate by the video surveillance is about 30 seconds. They come in, 30 seconds later they are gone," said Doerun Police Captain Samuel Smith.

If you have any information about this morning's store break-in, call the Doerun Police Department at 782-5441 or the Colquitt County Sheriff's Office at 616-7430.
