An accused killer faces judge

Posted: Updated:

A woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death went before a judge today to hear the charges against her.

33-year old Leslie Ballard wiped tears from her eyes as Judge Robert Revells read off the list of charges.

Ballard is charged with murder, aggravated assault, 4 counts of cruelty to children and possession of a knife during a crime.

She told the judge the reason for the stabbing of her 40-year-old boyfriend Anthony Hartsfield was self-defense.

The murder happened Saturday night around 10:30 at 326 Cherry Avenue in Albany. At least four kids were inside the home including Hartsfield's son.

The Lily Pad will interview the kids involved.
