    Information from The Georgia Department of Labor- The Georgia Department of Labor says Metro Albany's unemployment rate increased to 8.7 percent in June, up three-tenths of a percentage point from 8.4More >>
    The rate increased because of seasonal factors, such as the summer job loss among non-contract school workers and temporary layoffs, primarily in manufacturing. There were 60,500 jobs in Albany in June, down by 300, or 0.5 percent, from 60,800 in May. Most of the loss came in state government and the service-related industries.More >>

Sunday night just before midnight three Colquitt County Sheriff's Deputies were involved in a wreck. It happened on Mitchell Suber Road, when they were responding to a domestic violence call.

State Troopers say Deputies were driving at high speeds when they crashed. SGT. Rodney Harrod has a broken neck, face bones and a fractured vertebrae. Harris was taken to Archbold Hospital in Thomasville.

Sheriff Deputy Alex Hampton has a broken arm and was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Hampton was treated and released. Will Pierce was the other deputy involved and was unharmed.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck.
