'Top Cop' now a Tifton Detective

Criminals beware, the officer honored as the nation's top cop is off patrol and now working as a Detective.

You may remember Tifton officer Dorminey McCrae.

In 2008, his bold action during a hostage situation at the Piggy wiggly landed him the title of the nation's top cop.

He shot the hostage taker.

After spending several years on the road as a patrol officer he's now working in the investigations division and he has a message for criminals.

"We are here and eventually we will get you, you can go so long before you get caught and eventually you will get caught," he said.

In Detective McCrae's new office, he has numerous awards and pictures from his trip to the White House where he accepted his Top Cop award and got to meet President Obama.
