VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

An convicted murderer is back in jail accused of holding up a Valdosta store clerk at knifepoint.

Police say 54-year old Jeffery Shields took a taxi to the Flash Foods at 1201 North St. Augustine Road shortly after midnight.

They say he walked in, pulled out a knife, and demanded money from clerk Robbie Anderson.

A trooper pulled the taxi over a short time later on Gornto Road.

There was another passenger in the cab but investigators don't think that person or the driver knew what happened.

Shields was released from Valdosta State Prison in 2009 after serving time for a 1989 murder in Fulton County.

He is now charged with armed robbery and possession of knife during the commission of a crimes.
