NASHVILLE, GA (WALB) - Berrien High's Larry Greene, Junior received a heroes welcome in Nashville when he returned from the major league baseball draft in New Jersey.
The Berrien outfielder was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the compensation phase of the first round Monday.
It was a long wait for Larry since he had to sit and watch 38 players selected in front of him.
The waiting really begins for Greene and the other top picks.
The contract negotiations between teams and their representatives will likely not start heating up until just before the August deadline.
Larry plans to stay workout in Nashville until the legal work is done.
Larry Greene, Jr. said. "I am going to be working out on the field with me, some of my buddies and my coaches. Having weight room workouts. Staying in shape. Staying in tuned. It is going to be tough. It is process like I say and I am going to have to wait for it."
Larry Greene, Jr. did sign at Chipola Junior College in January.
