An early morning knife attack

Albany police are investigating an attack that happened around 2 a.m. Friday. Police responded to a call about a man bleeding from his neck.

Police say Larry Kirkland exchanged words with an unknown man at 127 Merrit St. As Kirkland tried to leave on his bike, the man slashed his throat from behind.

Kirkland made it to 625 East Broad where he was met by police, then he was taken to Phoebe Putney Hospital for treatment.

Police say the suspect fled the scene in a car with a female, but have not released any other information about him.

This case is under investigation.
