Red Cross volunteer shares disaster relief story

A month after a Red Cross Volunteer returned from tornado ravaged North Georgia, he shared his story and experience with WALB Monday.

Red Cross Volunteer Bill Hamby spent two weeks as a logistics manager feeding storm victims in Ringgold.

He made sure volunteers had the resources to serve food to thousands of victims and workers from Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles.

This is his 86th disaster relief trip.

"It was a major disaster," said Logistics Director, Bill Hamby. "There was total devastation to houses, businesses and other properties. They had to start from zero."

The Albany Red Cross chapter sent eight people to storm ravaged areas in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi.
