    For years, the area right across the street from the RiverQuarium has been rundown, but that's changing.

One of the nation's top demographic experts says Georgia is growing rapidly and becoming more diverse.

Georgia's Hispanic population is expected to double in just more than eight years.

 Warren Brown talked about the latest census numbers with the Kiwanis club. He says "Georgia is the new California." He also expressed the need for folks to participate in the census.

"It matters too much to be not counted in the census because of representation, allocation of federal funds, program planning, emergency management services a whole range of things are driven by census numbers," said Warren Brown, Sr. Public Service Associate, UGA.

Dougherty County came in 156th of 159 Georgia counties in terms of population growth.
