Water gas and light crews have been worked throughout the night Saturday to restore power to several Albany homes left in the dark after a powerful afternoon thunderstorm blew through.
Many of those homes remained without power after winds brought down trees and electrical lines. The storm rolled through around 4pm. Lighting hit an oak on 8th Avenue splitting it in half, taking down lines near the National Guard armory and blocking the street.
On 2nd avenue near the Lime Sink, a tree crashed onto a house. Part of the street was blocked due to downed trees. Water, Gas, and Light officials have called in additional crews to restore power.
