It's one of the most popular youth football leagues in America and it's finally now available right here in South Georgia. Youth football coaches Daniel Cruz and Bert Bacon have come together to create the state's first Pop Warner football league. Over 70 kids came out on Saturday to take part in the Pop Warner skills camp.
The league is set to begin towards the end of the summer at not only focuses on athletics but also the importance of academics, family and community. Organizers say they've gotten great support and are thankful for getting the league off the ground.
Bert Bacon said "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be apart of it. Grateful for the vision to be trusted to us. The community has been behind us, they've been with us. Some of us have coached these kids for 3 or 4 years and they are willing to do whatever it takes to do something new to the community."
Slater Cruz said "I was excited because this is Pop Warner and there are too many people on the middle and high school teams. This will give the people like me the chance to play football."
