Well-respected cancer patient dies

A Worth County teen who's been battling cancer for nearly two years has passed away.

The mother of 17-year-old Christopher Oates tells us he died just before 10:30 Friday night after battling a rare cancer that attacked his bones and organs.

Oates was known for his selfless efforts to help others who were also facing life-threatening illness.

The family will hold a viewing at their home in Sumner From Sunday through Tuesday. The address is: 1330 Sumner Road South. It's open to the public.

They'll have his funeral at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sumner Cemetery.
