Gov Deal passes bike safety law

A new bike safety law requires Georgia drivers to be more careful when sharing the road with bicyclists. Governor Nathan Deal signed a more detailed safety bill in May.

It requires drivers to give bicyclists three feet of clearance when passing them., even if that means they have to follow a bike until they can pass when cars aren't coming from the other direction.

The General Assembly passed the bill after complaints from bicyclists that they're often forced off the road by drivers.
