ALBANY, GA (WALB) - College football teams need more than just good players to compete on the field.

They also need money.

Supporters of the Albany State Golden Ram football team were out early this morning at the Flint River Golf Course for the 9th annual Mike White Golf Tournament.

The head coach as always hits the ceremonial tee shot.

After that it was time for the field to enjoy a round of golf and a nice lunch.

It is a relaxing day for the field and for the Golden Rams coaching staff.

Coach White knows in two months the Rams will be on the practice field getting ready for to defend their SIAC title.

The coach is counting on his players to be in shape when camp opens.

Mike White said. "You have got some guys who need to be in good shape when camp starts. We have got some new personnel that will be here. Some big holes to fill on both sides of the ball. It will be important for them to be in very good condition."

Albany State opens the 2011 college football season at home September 3rd against Savannah State.
