The Bread House wins top award

If you're driving too fast on Dawson Road you just might miss a hidden treasure. It's called The Bread House and it's a recent winner of a National Restaurant Association award.

"It's the food and beverage product innovation award. We won it for one of our new products, but we're still tweaking it," said Bread House worker Susannah Turner.

That innovative product is called the Going Chia Fiber Energy Bar. It's made with freshly-milled Montana hard red whole wheat infused with chia seeds.

The Bread House has been serving the Albany area since 2003 and customers like Kirby Gregory are satisfied with the service.

"I like how it tastes and I know it's good and it is healthy for me," said Gregory.

Not only does The Bread House sell bread, it sells cookies and fiber bars and their slogan is "nutrition with a mission".

The Bread House is connected with GraceWay, a non-profit alcoholism and substance abuse treatment recovery community for women. Bread House worker Shannon Burke is grateful for the program.

"I'm capable and can have support in relationships and have real relationships that I never really had before," said Burke.

Profits from The Bread House go to GraceWay's non-profit mission of planting seeds of recovery.
