Former DWS player now head coach

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Some coaches have to wait years for the chance to become a head coach.

Former Deerfield-Windsor football player Kevin Prisant is getting his chance three years before his 30th birthday.

When the school year ended at Randolph-Southern last week, Kevin Prisant was off to Newnan.

The 26-year old Prisant is ready for his new job as head coach at the Heritage School.

Like their coach, Heritage is young program with just five years of varsity experience in the GISA.

Prisant has been the offensive coordinator at Randolph-Southern.

He understands there are those who question whether he is mature enough for his new job.

Prisant says there is only one way to find out.

Kevin Prisant said. "It is one of those things where you want to tell yourself you are ready for it but you really have to see if you are. With the help of coach Griggs here and Clint when I was at Statesboro, I think we are ready to step into that position. We can build them into a respectable program."

Heritage's first game for their new head coach is against Dawson Street.
