South GA judge charged with DUI

LESLIE, GA (WALB) - A South Georgia was charged Saturday afternoon with DUI .

Police tell us Chief Judge of the Southwestern Judicial Circuit Rucker Smith was pulled over just after 5 o'clock on Federal Street in Leslie for speeding.

A Leslie Police officer clocked him driving 63 in a 45 mile per hour zone.

He refused a sobriety test and was charged with DUI refusal first offense and open container. He was booked into the Sumter County and released on bond.

This is Smith's second arrest since 2005. He was acquitted in 2006 on charges of simple battery and battery for a fight with a girlfriend.
