Friday, B. J. Fletcher confirmed she plans to qualify in August in the mayor's race.

Fletcher is a co-owner of Cafe 230 and Downtown Farm Market and is a manager at Ole Times Country Buffet. She believes small businesses are Albany's best growth opportunity.

She told us there's a lot she can do for the community.  "It's a big decision, it will change my life style as I know it, but it's because of what the community has done for me. I feel like I've still got a lot in me that I can still do for the community."

Fletcher plans to roll out her campaign platform and more details of what she wants to do for the city as mayor next week.

City Commissioner Dorothy Hubbard and businessman Kirk Smith have also announced their intentions to run for mayor.
