The Albany Humane Society is getting a makeover thanks to some help from a national humanitarian group and national dog food company.
Family members who used to own a business in an abandoned building near Highway 62 in Blakely were walking through the building Thursday and stumbled across dynamite.
Blakely police evacuated one wing of the nearby hospital, some businesses, and detoured traffic.
They called in an Explosive Ordinance Disposal team from Albany Police Department's Bomb Unit. Those experts removed and detonated the dynamite, then double checked to make sure they got it all.
Police lifted the evacuation order.
