Phoebe Sumter raises money for tornado victims

Posted: Updated:

Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americas is supporting the people of Joplin, Missouri after Sunday's tornado that killed at least 126 people.

Employees from Schwan's delivery services set up in the parking lot of Phoebe Sumter's temporary facility Thursday.

People bought meat, veggies, ice cream and more. 20-percent of the proceeds will go to St. John's Medical Center in Joplin.

It was destroyed by the tornado just as Sumter Regional was in 2007.

They raised roughly a $1,000 dollars. Hospital workers also signed a banner they'll deliver to Joplin along with the money.
