A Dougherty County woman is indicted for shaking and beating her 3-month old daughter who is now permanently brain damaged.
24-year old Melissa Carter is charged with six counts of Aggravated battery and child cruelty.
Prosecutors say sometime in November or December of last year, Carter abused her 3-month old daughter Shyann.
"The child is alive, but the child will need as we understand at this point continuous care, probably for the rest of her life," said Dougherty D.A. Greg Edwards.
If convicted Carter could face a maximum of 100 years in prison.
