VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

26-year-old Bernard Sanders was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and 10 years probation for aggravated assault and gun charges.

Earlier this month, he was found not guilty for the murder of Sidney Bivins in a mass shooting in Valdosta.

The shooting took place in November of 2009, at the Hudson Docket Apartments, long a scene of violence and police responses

Ten people were wounded, and Bivins died after gunfire broke out in a crowd of people.

In the murder trial, prosecutors argued Sanders intended to murder Bivins and should be convicted of malice murder. They say Sanders changed his story a few times. No guns were recovered.

Police did recover shell casings. Investigators say the case was difficult because they didn't get a lot of cooperation from witnesses.
