LEESBURG, GA (WALB) – Three people, including a baby, were hospitalized Wednesday night after a car collided into the back of a pickup truck on U.S. 19 in Lee County.

The southbound lane of 19 had to be shut down for several hours to clear the wreckage and several pieces of debris which flew out of the truck and covered the road.

Sheriff's officials tell us a woman and a baby were in a Lexus that struck the back of a Dodge Dakota pickup around 9:45.

The woman, child, and the driver of the pickup were conscious when paramedics arrived and were taken to Albany hospitals.

Traffic was detoured to Mayhaw and Lovers Lane roads.

Georgia DOT crews were called in to remove fuel which spilled on the road.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash. No word on the victims' conditions or what caused the wreck.
