The Red Cross is in dire need of donations after responding to so many major disaster this Spring.

Volunteers from the Albany chapter just returned from Canton, Mississippi, north Georgia and north Alabama where they helped people recover from deadly tornadoes.

The Red Cross needs volunteers and money, especially since hurricane season starts next week.

"If a disaster were to strike tonight or tomorrow and people come to the office and say I have no training but I want to volunteer, we will take those volunteers and do something with them," said Mari Wright with the American Red Cross.

The local Red Cross is also doing a hero campaign. Well-known people in the community are encouraging their friends to donate.

If you'd like to help out call the Albany chapter at (229) 436-4845 or the Americas location at (229) 924-2026.
