CORDELE, GA (WALB) - In just three seasons at Crisp Academy, Wildcats baseball coach Brett Freeman has guided the Wildcats to back to back trips to the state finals.
Freeman has experience winning state championships as a player.
Freeman played won state championships playing for Paul Eames at Deerfield-Windsor and for Albany Post 30 in American Legion baseball.
Freeman says playing for Paul Eames inspired him to become a coach and he has modeled his program after the one he experienced in high school and Legion baseball.
Brett Freeman said. "When I was 16-17 years old, he didn't think I was listening a whole lot of times. I was paying attention. That is what I have tried to bring here. a lot of the things we do here are things I learned playing for him. He has been a big part of what we do up here and how he shaped my coaching career."
Crisp Academy and Westwood start their GISA Class A state championship series with a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Cordele.
